I really like this one, I don’t know about anyone else, but I find it soothing, as one should find prayers…
Guardian Angel Prayer
O angel of God, my guardian dear
to whom God’s love commits me here.
Ever this day (night) be at my side,
to light, to guard, to rule and guide.
Hope you might like it too.
If not, there’s always the staggering-skill of the picture. Some days I really do feel like that, like I’m a child crossing a rickety bridge that some sod didn’t manage to build properly, or some people neglected to maintain, or maybe it was an ‘act of God’ i.e. a natural disaster… who knows? One shouldn’t really blame, but when you feel in dire straits and as if you’re in critical (or spiritual) danger what else do you do apart from having to suffer the consequences of having to deal with everything yourself, and the coping strategy does involve blaming and criticising others as well as yourself. It does really help. A form of venting, ranting, raving, moaning, whinging and singeing.
I’m not as fortunate as the children in the picture, I tend not to have company with me and if I do, it’s not really as useful as one would like. Oh well, we can’t have everything. Life just isn’t that way. [07.03.2017 Edit: Yeah, sometimes I just like to wallow in self-pity… Looking back, what I mean by ‘not having company’ is that I ‘feel‘ alone (but not lonely), not that I physically am by myself. Also, when I say ‘not as useful as one would like’ I mean sometimes we just gotta be able to help ourselves and not rely on others to get us out of the doldrums because that isn’t how life is. For the record, I was going through a ‘thing’ and actually I am truly grateful for the family and friends in my life.]
It can’t actually be helped because often when there are ‘tests’ or ‘trials and tribulations’, they really are specifically for you, and thus, learning self-ability and independence is vital. More than coping, a thorough potency of independence of Self is a vital skill in today’s world. It should be expected of us and so it should be achieved and is achievable. The correctness of the result can be discovered when the time comes for you to use your independence. Don’t underestimate how many people go about independence in a warped manner, believing that by removing trust, dependency and flexibility is the way to go. That is, some people understand independence to be a type of stubbornness of mind and being awkwardly wilful e.g. the phrase ‘my way or the highway’ comes to mind. I believe resilience is a crucial point in developing personal independence. The resilience to bounce back after lessons learnt. It’s a tough ride, it sure is. There is no doubt that it is a very difficult life’s journey, but thus, we have always known we must progress and for such great benefits there are no shortcuts and no end of striving. Thus, I must consistently convene with my spirit and since I know, without doubt, I am not the only one I also seek understanding of ancient sacred teachings. In particular, I have chosen Christianity. It has helped me a lot. So, I am always grateful for all those who went before us and those whose lives are to safeguard, to allow others to continue with their work in peace and with safety of mind, body and spirit. Thank you.
