┾The Sign of the Cross╆
In the Name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.:: The Lord’s Prayer ::
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed by thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory.Forevermore. Amen.
§ The Apostles’ Creed §
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified,
died and was buried. He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven,
where he is seated at the
right hand of God the Father Almighty. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body
and the life everlasting. Amen. The Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.≡ Lord of the Dance ≡

I danced in the morning when the world was begun
I danced in the Moon and the stars and the Sun
I came down from Heaven and I danced on the Earth
At Bethlehem I had my birth:(chorus)
Dance then, wherever you may be
I am the Lord of the Dance, said He!
And I'll lead you all, wherever you may be
And I'll lead you all in the Dance, said He!

I danced for the scribe and the pharisee
But they would not dance and they wouldn't follow me
I danced for the fishermen, for James and John
They came with me and the Dance went on:(chorus)

I danced on the Sabbath and I healed the lame
The holy people said it was a shame!
They whipped me and stripped me and hung me high
And left me there on a cross to die!(chorus)

I danced on a Friday when the sky turned black
It's hard to dance with the devil on your back
They buried my body and they thought I'd gone
But I am the Dance and I still go on!(chorus)

Ж Ж ж ж Ж Ж ж ж Ж ЖAway in a Manager
A beloved Christmas Carol...
... brings nostalgia.Away in a manger,
No crib for His bed
The little Lord Jesus
Laid down His sweet head. The stars in the bright sky
Looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay.The cattle are lowing
The poor Baby wakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes.I love Thee, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my side,
'Til morning is nigh.Be near me, Lord Jesus,
I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever
And love me I pray.Bless all the dear children
In Thy tender care
And take us to heaven
To live with Thee there.★☆ O Little Town of Bethlehem ☆★
O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight。§ § §
For Christ is born of Mary
And gathered all above
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love
O morning stars together
Proclaim the holy birth
And praises sing to God the King
And Peace to men on earth§ § §
How silently, how silently
The wondrous gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His heaven.
No ear may hear His coming,
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive him still,
The dear Christ enters in.§ § §
O holy Child of Bethlehem
Descend to us, we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in
Be born to us today
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide with us
Our Lord Emmanuel§ § § § § §
Ж Once in royal Davids city Ж
Once in royal Davids city,
Stood a lowly cattle shed,
Where a mother laid her Baby,
In a manger for His bed:
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ, her little Child.
★☆★
He came down to earth from heaven,
Who is God and Lord of all,
And His shelter was a stable,
And His cradle was a stall:
With the poor, and mean, and lowly,
Lived on earth our Saviour holy.
★☆★
For He is our childhood's pattern;
Day by day, like us, He grew;
He was little, weak, and helpless,
Tears and smiles, like us He knew;
And He cares when we are sad,
And he shares when we are glad.
★☆★
And our eyes at last shall see Him,
Through His own redeeming love;
For that Child so dear and gentle,
Is our Lord in heaven above:
And He leads His children on,
To the place where He is gone.

Hong Kong’s much-loved foods
My thoughts on HK’s daily ‘grab-and-go’ food
I love pastries, but when I’m in HK I find that the pastries, buns and breads here not to my specific preference, yet I don’t really understand why.
I actually prefer Western, in particular, English pastries and buns. Maybe I’ve fundamentally changed as a person! I love ‘Greggs’ the bakers on the British high street. I love tucking into their jumbo sausage rolls, the cheese and onion pasties, the spicy chicken pasties… the cornish pasty, the tuna and sweetcorn roll and it goes on.
I find that nowadays, the HK-style bakery has yet to be able to whet my particular appetite for breads and pasties.
However, I am always hungry for a Greggs sausage roll, from which I must deliver myself from temptation every time I’m on the high street – which is really quite often!
I find that when in Hong Kong I am more needing of soup-based rice noodles e.g. vermicelli noodles in pork-bone soup with char siu (bbq pork), or Chinese radish and beef belly in clear soup vermicelli, or maybe a sweet-and-sour soup base on a particularly needy day.
Anyways, here’s the article from the China Daily newspaper for the low-down on a city-wide project to track down the origins of the most beloved and staple of Hong Kong pastries and buns…
